The South Australian Government understands the current national security threat to South Australia and the role that we play in protecting our State and the nation from these threats. In an increasingly complex, often unpredictable and continually changing world, it is vital that South Australia is able to provide a stable and secure environment in which people, communities, business, investment and innovation thrive and prosper.

South Australian Security Strategy 'Securing SA'

Securing SA was developed by external consultant McGrathNicol with input from external stakeholders in response to increasing threats from espionage, foreign interference and insider threat across all levels of Australian politics in all state and territories. Securing SA outlines and educates both the public sector and the wider community about the main security challenges South Australia faces and how South Australia engages in, and contributes to, national security. Securing SA integrates South Australian policy frameworks, including the SA Protective Security Framework and the South Australian Cyber Security Framework, and key legislative requirements related to national security.

The strategic intent behind Securing SA includes four key principles:

  1. Coordinated and proactive governance
  2. Innovative and adaptive government
  3. Engaged, aware and resilient communities
  4. Protected services, systems and infrastructure.

The thirteen associated actions under each of the principles will direct future initiatives to address security challenges in South Australia and help to drive forward momentum in the security space across government.
